A Pi Display OS module that talks to Sonos speakers on your own network: it follows the room that's playing (or a room you pin) and shows the title, artist and play state, then steps aside when the music stops.

Nothing is hardcoded: rooms are discovered on your network and you choose which ones to follow. It needs no cloud account.

Tested, and known limits

Software ready. Tested in software and simulation: installer, settings, every module, the web page and the MatrixPortal protocol against a simulated device. Not yet tested on physical LED panels by us; hardware results will be listed here once that test has been done.

  • Software ready: follow and pinned-room logic, play/pause states and long-title scrolling tested with simulated speakers
  • Demo tracks render at every panel size with no clipped text

Limits

  • Not yet tested by us against real Sonos speakers or physical LED panels in this package; discovery uses the open-source SoCo library on your local network
  • Not affiliated with or endorsed by Sonos

Licence

Per-installation licence for personal use. Commercial venues (bars, offices, client installs) need a commercial licence. Commercial and installer licences are available on request. Full terms.

All updates within the purchased major version (for example 1.x). Major new versions may be a discounted paid upgrade. Current version: 1.0.0. Changelog.

Is this made by Sonos?

No. It's an independent module that works with Sonos speakers on your local network.

Is it sold separately?

No. Now Playing is a module of Pi Display OS: buying here gets you the whole platform. If you already own Pi Display OS or the Full Bundle, you already have it.
